Ø     How much does it cost? What does the cost cover?

An $8 per student registration fee covers the cost of food, supplies, and facilities.

Ø    How do we register?

On-line registration at our application is the best way to go, but NHYES coordinators will be happy to mail or fax forms to you school. Just call 476-5517. In addition to the initial registration form, the $8/student registration fee and the signed behavioral contracts should be mailed to:

Ø     How many students may each school nominate?

There is a limit of 2 students from each grade (5, 6, & 7) for a total of 6 from each school. This will allow the Summit to be open to as many students as possible from around the state.

Ø     Are chaperones invited for lunch?

Chaperones are welcome to remain at the Capital Center and eat lunch among their peers or with their students, but chaperone lunch is not provided! Please bring your own lunch.

Ø     Is there any way that students need to prepare for the Summit?

Each school (all of the delegates together) should prepare a brief (3-5 minute) presentation that describes what environmental participation they have at their school, and any ideas that they have for the future.

Ø    Is there any way that chaperones need to prepare for the Summit?

Chaperones should come prepared to go into more detail about their school’s environmental efforts during the adult workshop portion of the day.

Ø     What if a student is a vegetarian? Has a vision restriction? Is hearing impaired? Has a physical disability? Has a behavioral concern? Etc…?

Any special needs should be brought to our attention prior to the summit, so that we may make every effort to make the delegates time at the Summit enjoyable and worthwhile.

Ø     What time should delegates arrive at the Capital Center?

Registration begins at 8:30am. Students may register and then congregate in the conference center as everyone arrives. We encourage you to arrive with enough time to register before we begin at 9:00am.

Ø     When should delegates be picked up?

The Summit will adjourn at 3:00pm. Closing ceremonies will begin around 2:30pm, and parents are welcome to attend the closing remarks and slide show.

Ø     How should delegates dress?

There is no dress code, but delegates should keep in mind that they are representing their school and their peers, and should look presentable.

Ø     Is there anything else I should know?

Now it’s our turn for a question: Is there anything else that you would like to know? If there is, please feel free to contact Shaw Smith at 476-5517.
